Where it came from
Buta ga Sukisugite Hungary no Kokuhin ni Natimashita, which translates roughly to I Loved Pigs So Much I Became a Hungarian Government Official, was authored and illustrated by Matsumoto Kyuujo. The work emerged from the niche autobiographical manga subgenre, detailing the author's unconventional life path and his personal obsession with pigs as it intersected with international bureaucracy.
The series gained traction for its humorous and singular narrative voice, which blends cultural commentary on Hungary with the author's personal eccentricities. Designed as an essay-style manga, it focuses on the author's unique transition from an enthusiast to an active participant in his chosen subject, offering a self-deprecating look at life abroad and the pursuit of peculiar passions.
