Charlotte's Wheel

Charlotte's Wheel, created by the artist known as Palamanjang, emerged from the independent webcomic and zine circuit that gained momentum in the digital art spaces of the late 2010s. The series was conceptualized as a surreal, episodic journey, utilizing a signature minimalist aesthetic that prioritizes atmospheric storytelling and fluid linework over dense dialogue. It was initially serialized online before being collected into a self-published volume that emphasizes the tactile quality of independent print media.

Palamanjang designed the volume with a focus on negative space and symbolic imagery, drawing inspiration from modernist graphic design and dream-logic narratives. The work is widely regarded for its ability to evoke complex emotional states through sparse visual cues, resonating with a niche but dedicated audience that appreciates abstract, character-driven studies. Critics often point to its intentional pacing as a departure from standard narrative structures, marking it as a distinct entry in contemporary indie graphic literature.
