Where it came from
Circuit no Ookami II: Modena no Ken is a direct sequel to Satoshi Ikezawa’s immensely popular 1970s manga series, The Circuit Wolf. While the original work sparked a nationwide supercar boom in Japan, this follow-up shifted the focus toward the automotive landscape of the early 1980s, centering on the rivalry between protagonist Ken Modena and his competitors in the world of professional racing.
The series was authored and illustrated by Ikezawa, who leveraged his extensive knowledge of European sports cars to bring technical authenticity to the panels. By blending high-speed race sequences with a focus on specific marques like Ferrari and Lamborghini, the series aimed to capture the evolution of performance engineering, maintaining the intense, high-octane narrative style that defined Ikezawa’s career and cemented his reputation in the genre of sports manga.
