Where it came from
The Comitia Participation Diary series serves as a specialized archival tool for participants of Comitia, the long-running Japanese dōjinshi convention focused on original works. These diaries were created to assist independent artists and attendees in tracking booth information, sales goals, and networking contacts within the high-energy environment of the event, which differs from Comiket by its strict focus on original rather than derivative content.
The series features the distinctive, clean illustrative style of mangaka Izumi Rei, whose character designs are noted for their expressive charm and clarity. By integrating functional organizational layouts with thematic artwork, the diaries were designed to bridge the gap between practical administrative utility and the aesthetic sensibilities of the dōjin community, receiving appreciation from attendees for both their decorative appeal and their structured approach to event navigation.
