Concerning the Van Bunschoten Or Van Benschoten Family in America: A Genealogy and Brief History ...

Published in 1907, this extensive genealogical record was compiled by William Henry Van Benschoten as a comprehensive account of the Van Benschoten lineage in America. The work emerged during a period of heightened interest in colonial ancestry and family historiography at the turn of the twentieth century, serving to consolidate records that had previously been scattered across disparate family bibles, church documents, and public land surveys.

The volume was designed as a scholarly reference, characterized by its formal, encyclopedic layout and its intent to preserve the family heritage for future generations. While not a commercial trade book in the traditional sense, it was well-received within historical societies and among descendants of the original Dutch settlers, providing a standardized narrative structure that remains a fundamental resource for those researching the specific genealogy of this prominent American family.
