Demon Prince Poro's Diaries

Demon Prince Poro's Diaries, titled Poro no Ryūgakuki in Japanese, was created by mangaka Hitsuji Gondaira and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 2017. The series follows Poro, a demon prince who descends to the human world with the intent of destroying humanity, only to find himself unexpectedly swayed by the mundane comforts and positive aspects of human life. This premise allowed Gondaira to blend supernatural elements with a comedic, fish-out-of-water narrative structure that examines the protagonist's transition from an agent of chaos to an accidental benefactor.

The character design and stylistic choices reflect Gondaira’s affinity for expressive, eccentric character beats and dynamic visual gags. While the series was intended as a lighthearted fantasy comedy, it was ultimately short-lived, concluding its run relatively quickly after its debut. Despite its brief tenure in the magazine, it remains a notable example of Gondaira's early professional work, serving as a precursor to the more complex world-building and narrative depth they would later achieve in their critically acclaimed work, Mission: Yozakura Family.
