Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen

Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen, known in English as Mission: Yozakura Family, began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2019. Authored and illustrated by Hitsuji Gondaira, the series emerged during a period when the magazine was actively seeking to cultivate new hit titles to stand alongside established giants. Gondaira crafted a narrative blending high-stakes espionage action with the tropes of a character-driven domestic comedy, centering on the forced marriage between a timid high school student and a girl from a family of elite super-spies.

The visual identity of the series is defined by Gondaira's dynamic paneling and character designs that emphasize the distinct, often eccentric personalities of the Yozakura siblings. The manga was received as a refreshing entry within the shonen demographic for its unique focus on family dynamics as a central pillar of the protagonist's growth. Its ongoing success led to a significant expansion of the franchise, including a well-received anime adaptation that brought Gondaira's kinetic action sequences to life for a wider global audience.
