Dick Hamilton's Steam Yacht, Or, a Young Millionaire and the Kidnappers

Dick Hamilton's Steam Yacht was written by Howard Roger Garis and published in 1910 as the second volume in the Dick Hamilton series. Garis, perhaps best known for creating the Uncle Wiggily Longears stories, developed the Dick Hamilton character as a youthful counterpart to the Stratemeyer Syndicate's other successful protagonists, focusing on a boy whose inherited wealth allowed for adventurous travel and mechanical pursuits.

The design of these early twentieth-century boys' adventure novels often relied on bold, cloth-bound covers and internal illustrations that reflected the era's fascination with burgeoning technology and maritime exploration. The series was designed to appeal to adolescent readers by balancing themes of independence and heroism, and it was generally well-received as wholesome entertainment within the competitive landscape of turn-of-the-century juvenile literature.
