This volume was compiled by Theodor Förster and published in 1895 as a commemorative supplement to the membership directory of the St. Johannis-Freimaurer-Loge zu den drei Balken in Münster. It focuses on the historical tenure of Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, who served as the lodge's master—or 'Hammerführer'—between 1802 and 1806 during his time stationed in Westphalia.

The text serves as a specialized historical record intended for members of the fraternity, documenting a specific period of Blücher’s life before his rise to prominence during the Napoleonic Wars. Förster’s work reflects the 19th-century German interest in archiving the local civic and social history of influential military figures, preserving the legacy of the lodge’s prominent past members for future generations of the Masonic community.
