Where it came from
Appmon Academy!! was released as a serialized tie-in to the Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters anime series, which debuted in 2016. The manga was created by Akamine Naoki, a prolific artist who has contributed extensively to the Digimon manga franchise, to provide a more lighthearted, comedic perspective on the Appmon-based world compared to the anime's primary narrative.
Designed to capture a younger demographic through gag-focused storytelling, the series focuses on the daily antics of characters within the Appli Academy setting. Akamine Naoki utilized a high-energy, expressive art style that emphasizes the chaotic relationship between the human students and their Appmon partners, serving as a supplementary expansion to the wider Appli Monsters multimedia project.
