Digimon World Re:Digitize

Released in 2012 for the PlayStation Portable, Digimon World Re:Digitize was designed to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the Digimon franchise. Developed by tri-Crescendo and published by Bandai Namco, the game was intended to return the series to its roots as a monster-raising simulation, mirroring the gameplay mechanics of the original 1997 Digimon World. The project aimed to capture the nostalgia of longtime fans while introducing the digital pet genre to a new generation of handheld gamers.

The character designs were handled by Suzuhito Yasuda, whose sleek and contemporary aesthetic provided a fresh update to the classic monster roster. The narrative was overseen by the collective known as Akiyoshi Hongo, the pseudonym for the original creators of the franchise. Upon its release in Japan, the title received praise for its faithful recreation of the original game's atmosphere and its robust training systems, though it remained a Japan-exclusive title for several years until the dedicated efforts of fan translation communities brought the experience to a global audience.
