Doraemon - Doranote (Doujinshi)

The Doranote is a well-known doujinshi created by the artist Aku Tenshi, emerging from the expansive fan culture surrounding Fujiko F. Fujio’s iconic Doraemon series. Created in the subculture of independent manga production, this work functions as a fan-made commentary or creative reimagining of the source material. It reflects the dedication of the Japanese dōjin community, where creators utilize established characters to explore themes or narrative directions outside of the official canon, often circulating these works at conventions like Comiket.

The design and narrative approach reflect a deliberate aesthetic choice by Aku Tenshi to lean into a more mature or distinct stylistic interpretation of the Doraemon universe. By subverting the familiar, lighthearted tropes of the original franchise, the work gained a reputation among collectors of doujinshi for its bold character studies and departures from the traditional tone of Fujio’s stories. Its reception has been characterized by a cult following within the fan community, who value the item as a noteworthy example of unofficial, artist-driven storytelling.
