The work was created in response to the lack of an official, definitive finale for the decades-long Doraemon franchise, tapping into the deep sense of nostalgia felt by the generation that grew up with Fujiko F. Fujio’s original manga.

Tajima’s illustrative style closely mirrors the simplicity and warmth of the original series while infusing the narrative with a poignant, bittersweet maturity. Although it originated as an unauthorized fan project, its emotional impact was so profound that it became a viral sensation in Japan and abroad, leading many fans to mistakenly believe it was the official conclusion to the series.
