Where it came from
Mister Pocolo originates from a series of unofficial or bootleg comics produced under the Fabulous Comics imprint, which sought to capitalize on the immense global popularity of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Z during the 1990s and early 2000s. These volumes were often published in regions with lax copyright enforcement, featuring unauthorized reinterpretations of existing characters or entirely new narratives that diverted significantly from the canonical Dragon Ball universe.
The design and artistic direction of these publications were typically handled by anonymous or pseudonymous illustrators attempting to mimic Toriyama’s distinctive, dynamic style. While the anatomical proportions and action sequences were intentionally reminiscent of the original manga, they were frequently met with confusion or amusement by long-time fans due to the unconventional storytelling choices and the stark deviation from established series lore.
