Even So, the Earth Turns

Even So, the Earth Turns, known in Japan as Soredemo Chikyuu wa Mawaru, is a manga series by Akisato Wakuni that emerged from the seinen demographic. Serialization began in the mid-2000s, reflecting a period in manga history where grounded, character-driven narratives focusing on the complexities of adult life and interpersonal relationships gained significant traction. The series is noted for its meditative pacing and its exploration of the quiet, often internal struggles faced by its protagonists as they navigate the passage of time.

Wakuni's artistic style leans into a understated realism that complements the narrative’s introspective nature. By focusing on the subtlety of daily life rather than sensationalist tropes, the work achieved a niche but loyal readership. It was received as a contemplative entry in the seinen genre, often praised by critics for its maturity and the author’s ability to depict emotional weight through minimalist compositions and thoughtful character studies.
