Where it came from
Final Fantasy VII: The Sevening is a fan-created volume developed by the creator known as ObstinateMelon. Emerging from the vibrant digital art and doujin culture surrounding the Final Fantasy VII fandom, this work explores non-canonical interpretations and expanded narratives for the game's iconic cast. It serves as a testament to the enduring creative engagement the title has inspired within the independent publishing community over several decades.
The design of the volume reflects a self-published aesthetic, prioritizing character-driven vignettes and stylized illustrations that lean into the darker, atmospheric elements of the source material. By focusing on niche narrative threads, ObstinateMelon sought to offer a specialized perspective for dedicated fans. The work is widely recognized within these enthusiast circles as a labor of love that highlights the intersection of professional-grade character design and underground creative fan expression.
