Where it came from
Final Fantasy XII - Motherland is a doujinshi work produced by the Japanese creative circle Yoshii wa Koko yo. Released in the mid-2000s, this fan-made publication emerged during the height of the community's engagement with Square Enix's twelfth main entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, reflecting the trend of dedicated circles creating unofficial, interpretive content to expand upon the game's complex political narrative and character dynamics.
The publication follows the established tradition of doujin culture, where independent creators produce works to explore niche themes or alternative story arcs for popular media. Yoshii wa Koko yo utilized the distinct visual language of Final Fantasy XII to craft a specific artistic vision, focusing on the character relationships within Ivalice. Like many doujin works of the era, the publication was distributed primarily at specialized events such as Comiket, serving as a testament to the enduring influence of the game's art direction and its dedicated fan following.
