Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain, or Xue Shan Fei Hu, was first serialized in Hong Kong’s New Evening Post starting in 1959. Written by the celebrated wuxia novelist Jin Yong, the work was designed to experiment with narrative structure, notably utilizing a complex frame story where multiple characters recount past events from conflicting perspectives. This Rashomon-style approach allowed Jin Yong to build tension and reveal the intricate, often tragic history of the protagonist's family lineage through subjective testimonies rather than a linear account.
