Geschichte des k. u. k. Infanterie-regimentes nr.48: fortzetzung vom jahre 1874-1897

This volume serves as a continuation of the institutional history of the Austro-Hungarian 48th Infantry Regiment, specifically documenting the period between 1874 and 1897. During the era of the Dual Monarchy, regimental histories were commissioned as official records to preserve the heritage, service records, and military lineage of units within the Imperial and Royal (k.u.k.) army. These works were intended to foster regimental identity and provide an enduring archive of the unit's participation in maneuvers, parades, and administrative developments.

The text was compiled by Carl Freiherr von Wucherer, a military historian and officer whose work adheres to the formal traditions of late 19th-century Austro-Hungarian historiography. His writing aims for a precise, methodical account of the regiment’s garrison duties and organizational shifts during a period of relative peace before the turn of the century. As a specialized archival resource, the book was primarily distributed within military libraries and regimental archives, reflecting the rigid structural hierarchies and bureaucratic meticulousness of the period's military documentation.
