Geschichte der Stadt Ried in Oberösterreich

Published in 1899, the Geschichte der Stadt Ried in Oberösterreich by Konrad Meindl serves as a comprehensive chronicle of the Austrian town of Ried im Innkreis. The work was commissioned to document the historical evolution of the region, tracing its development from early settlements through the significant political shifts of the late 19th century. Meindl, a local historian and theologian, utilized archival documents and ecclesiastical records to provide an exhaustive account of the municipal and social life of the town.

The volume is recognized for its scholarly rigor and its role as a foundational text for regional historical study in Upper Austria. Designed as a traditional historical monograph, the book was intended for both academic reference and local preservation, reflecting the late 19th-century European trend of meticulous municipal documentation. It remains a primary source for researchers interested in the administrative, religious, and economic history of the Innviertel region, receiving consistent appraisal from local historians for its depth and reliance on primary source material.
