Guida commerciale d'Italia e delle colonie

The Guida commerciale d'Italia e delle colonie emerged during the early 20th century as a comprehensive effort to catalog the commercial landscape of the Kingdom of Italy and its overseas territories. Published during a period of intense industrial and colonial expansion, these volumes served as essential directories for merchants, manufacturers, and state officials seeking to navigate the complex networks of trade, production, and services that defined the Italian economy of the era.

The design of these volumes reflects the utilitarian aesthetic of turn-of-the-century reference works, prioritizing structured data, regional categorization, and detailed indices. Compiled by contemporary commercial institutions and cartographic services, the guides were intended to project a sense of national industrial progress and order. While they were primarily functional tools for businesses, they are now valued by historians as detailed snapshots of socio-economic life and trade policies in Italy and its African colonies prior to the mid-century geopolitical shifts.
