Where it came from
The Guilty Gear Strive digital comics were released as part of the promotional and supplementary materials for the 2021 fighting game Guilty Gear Strive, developed by Arc System Works. These digital vignettes were produced by Scenario Technology Mikagami Ltd. to provide players with deeper narrative context regarding the intricate lore of the series, bridging gaps between the game's cinematic story mode and the established history of its characters.
The design of these comics leans into the high-energy, heavy-metal aesthetic characteristic of the Guilty Gear franchise, utilizing the game's distinctive art style to maintain visual continuity. They serve as a companion piece for fans looking to explore the character motivations and world-building elements that are not explicitly detailed in the game's main campaign, and were generally well-received by the fighting game community for their commitment to expanding the series' complex narrative tapestry.
