Happy Hustle High, Vol. 3

Happy Hustle High was created by mangaka Rie Takada and originally serialized in the Japanese magazine Shogakukan's Sho-Comi. It belongs to the shojo demographic, focusing on the comedic and romantic exploits of the high school protagonist, Hanabi Ozora. This third volume continues the narrative arc that established the series' signature blend of slapstick humor and high school drama, following its initial publication in Japan before being licensed for the North American market by Viz Media in the mid-2000s.

The English language edition was part of Viz Media's efforts to expand the availability of contemporary shojo manga to international audiences during a period of significant growth for the medium in the West. Rie Takada’s art style, characterized by expressive character designs and dynamic paneling, was intended to capture the energetic and often chaotic spirit of adolescent life. The series was generally received as a lighthearted contribution to the school-life genre, reflecting the evolving tastes of manga readers during the decade.
