Herinneren en vergeten in de politie

Herinneren en vergeten in de politie, authored by Paul Ponsaers and published in 2017, emerged from an academic endeavor to critically examine the institutional memory and historical identity of the Belgian police force. Following the massive structural reforms that integrated the various police levels in Belgium at the turn of the millennium, Ponsaers sought to document how organizational culture is shaped by what is intentionally remembered and what is strategically set aside during periods of profound administrative transition.

The book serves as a scholarly reflection on police history, focusing on the sociopolitical context of law enforcement evolution within the Low Countries. Ponsaers, a prominent figure in criminology and police studies, designed the work to challenge simplified historical narratives. The text is widely recognized in professional and academic circles for its contribution to administrative sociology, providing a rigorous look at how institutional legacies influence modern policing practices.
