Hip Hop Monster

The Hip Hop Monster series emerged in the early 2010s as a creative collaboration between the South Korean entertainment company Big Hit Entertainment and the artist Grinemo. The project was designed to bridge the gap between webtoons and music marketing, serving as a stylized, animated representation of the members of the boy band BTS. Each character was crafted to reflect the distinctive personalities and stage personas of the group members during their early career, blending the aesthetic of classic manga character design with the burgeoning urban hip-hop culture they explored in their early music.

Grinemo utilized a distinctive, caricatured art style to reimagine the musicians, emphasizing exaggerated features and streetwear-inspired fashion to differentiate the characters.
