I Am the Male Lead's Ex-Girlfriend (Promo)

I Am the Male Lead's Ex-Girlfriend originated as a promotional web novel and webtoon project, authored by Bae Hee Jin. These promotional volumes are frequently developed by Korean production studios to test market interest in a story’s narrative arc and visual style before committing to a full-scale, long-form serialization. They act as a creative bridge, blending traditional romance tropes with the modern subgenre of transmigration fantasy, specifically focusing on characters who are aware of their status within a fictional plot.

The visual design of these promotional materials relies on the polished, vibrant aesthetic common to contemporary digital manhwa, characterized by expressive character silhouettes and high-contrast color palettes designed to capture attention on mobile platforms. Bae Hee Jin’s work is noted for its focus on the subversion of common genre archetypes, and this early iteration was received by readers as a crisp, engaging introduction to the author’s signature tone, helping to solidify a base of interest that supported the later development of the series.
