Where it came from
I'm Mortal is a volume within the independent manga series authored by J. Lovelace, reflecting a niche yet dedicated corner of contemporary self-published graphic literature. The work emerged from the creator's interest in blending existential inquiry with traditional shonen-inspired visual aesthetics, positioning itself as a meditation on the permanence of the human spirit within a fantastical framework.
The visual language of the series is characterized by high-contrast ink work and dynamic paneling that emphasizes character movement over static background detail. While the series maintains a modest circulation compared to major commercial titles, it has been noted by independent critics for its atmospheric storytelling and the deliberate, rhythmic pacing that Lovelace employs to heighten the narrative's tension.
