Jenaische allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung vom Jahre ...: 1816, 1/6

The Jenaische Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung was a prominent scholarly review journal established in Jena in 1785. The 1816 edition represents the publication during a pivotal era for German intellectual life, serving as a critical platform for the dissemination of philosophy, literature, and science. By the time this specific issue was released, the journal had transitioned from its earlier, more radical roots under the influence of figures like Fichte and Schiller toward a more conservative, institutionally aligned stance, mirroring the broader geopolitical shifts in post-Napoleonic Europe.

The publication was highly regarded for its rigorous academic standards and its commitment to reviewing the breadth of contemporary European letters. The design and editorial framework were structured to provide an authoritative overview of new releases, often serving as a primary source for scholars and intellectuals of the nineteenth century. While specific individual designers remain uncredited, the journal's aesthetic and typographic consistency reflected the standard professional printing practices of the University of Jena's literary circles during the period.
