Jetter Mars

Jetter Mars originated as a 1977 television anime series created by Osamu Tezuka, intended as a spiritual successor and thematic companion to his iconic Astro Boy. The project was conceived during a period of transition for Tezuka's production company, Mushi Production, and sought to revisit the philosophical exploration of robotics, humanity, and morality that defined his earlier work. While the series shares the visual DNA and core premise of a robot boy navigating a world of humans, it distinguishes itself through a slightly more somber, character-driven narrative structure that reflects the shifting tone of late 1970s Japanese animation.

The character design for Jetter Mars retains the classic, clean lines typical of Tezuka’s style, favoring expressive, rounded features that allowed for fluid motion in animation.
