Where it came from
Kagerou Nosutarujia ~ Shin Shou is a manga series authored by Satomi Kubo, emerging from the broader Kagerou Project, a multimedia franchise initiated by the musician Jin. The series serves as a narrative expansion within this expansive universe, which originated from a sequence of vocaloid songs that were later adapted into light novels and various manga interpretations to deepen the complex, time-looping lore surrounding the Mekakushi Dan.
The artistic direction for this volume focuses on interpreting the psychological intricacies of the Kagerou Project’s characters through Kubo's distinct visual style. By grounding the supernatural themes of the franchise in a more character-focused manga format, the work was aimed at long-term fans looking for a fresh perspective on the established story beats, receiving recognition for its ability to navigate the convoluted timeline of the source material while maintaining an accessible aesthetic.
