Katalog der Bibliothek der k.k. Akademie der bildende Künste. [Compiled by C. F. A. von Luetzow.]

The Katalog der Bibliothek der k.k. Akademie der bildenden Künste was compiled during the late 19th century under the direction of Carl Friedrich Arnold von Lützow, an influential art historian and critic. Commissioned by the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, the catalog served as a systematic inventory of the institution’s expanding literary and academic holdings, reflecting the scholarly rigor of the Austro-Hungarian academic establishment during a period of significant artistic transition.

Lützow, known for his editorial work on periodicals like the Zeitschrift für bildende Kunst, aimed to organize the Academy’s diverse collection to facilitate accessibility for students and researchers. The publication remains a vital historical record of the Academy’s bibliographical priorities and the intellectual environment of late-19th-century Vienna, providing insight into the aesthetic and historical literature that shaped the education of artists within the empire.
