Katalog einer Richard-Wagner-Bibliothek: nach den vorliegenden Originalien systematisch-chronologisch geordnetes und mit Citaten und Anmerkungen versehenes authentisches Nachschlagebuch durch die gesammte Wagner-Litteratur

The Katalog einer Richard-Wagner-Bibliothek was compiled by the Austrian bibliographer and dedicated Wagnerian Nikolaus Oesterlein and published in four volumes between 1882 and 1895. Oesterlein was motivated by a desire to consolidate the vast, scattered body of literature surrounding Richard Wagner, creating a systematic, chronological guide that cataloged his personal collection, which was housed at the Wagner Museum in Vienna.

The work serves as a foundational academic resource for Wagnerian studies, noted for its meticulous annotations, citations, and critical commentary on the reception of Wagner's operas and writings. While the sheer scale of the project reflected the intense contemporary fascination with the composer, it remains a seminal reference tool for historians tracing the dissemination of Wagner’s influence in late 19th-century European culture.
