Katsura Masakazu × Toriyama Akira Kyousaku Tanpenshuu - Katsura Akira

Published in 2014, this volume serves as a collaborative anthology documenting the long-standing professional and personal friendship between manga legends Akira Toriyama and Masakazu Katsura. The collection brings together several short stories and one-shots they co-created over the years, such as 'Sachie-chan Guu!!' and 'Jiya,' representing a unique synthesis of their distinct artistic styles—Toriyama’s iconic, clean-lined dynamism and Katsura’s penchant for detailed realism and expressive character design.

The project was born out of a mutual desire to experiment with storytelling outside the rigid constraints of their respective long-running serialized series. Fans and critics received the collection as a significant historical artifact, noting how the interplay between Toriyama’s comedic sensibilities and Katsura’s structural draftsmanship offered a rare glimpse into the collaborative synergy that developed during their decades of friendship. It remains a celebrated title for those interested in the cross-pollination of influence within the modern manga industry.
