Koisuru Cupid

Koisuru Cupid was serialized in the late 1980s by Akira Norikazu, emerging during a period when romantic comedy manga was rapidly diversifying its themes and target demographics. The series centers on the whimsical and often chaotic romantic developments involving a cupidian figure, blending traditional shonen tropes with the burgeoning appeal of supernatural slice-of-life narratives that defined the late Showa-era magazine scene.

The design and artistic approach reflect the clean, expressive character aesthetics popularized by the period's editorial standards. Norikazu utilized a lighthearted, comedic tone to navigate the series' episodic structure, aiming to balance character-driven humor with the standard emotional stakes of the genre. Upon its release, the work was received as a standard but charming entry in the romantic comedy canon, finding a steady readership among those who appreciated the era's focus on earnest and light-hearted storytelling.
