Where it came from
Koisuru Edison, written and illustrated by Watanabe Kizuku, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 2013. The series was conceptualized as a gag manga that parodies the scientific process, featuring a protagonist who attempts to invent ridiculous gadgets to solve trivial problems. Its creation reflects the magazine's occasional willingness to experiment with offbeat, high-concept humor that deviates from standard battle-shonen tropes.
The character design and visual style prioritize slapstick humor and exaggerated facial expressions typical of the genre. Despite the creative premise, the series struggled to find a sustainable audience within the competitive environment of Jump, leading to its relatively short run. It is now remembered by enthusiasts of niche comedy manga as a brief but distinct experiment in scientific absurdity.
