Where it came from
Korosensei Quest! is a spin-off manga series that reimagines the characters of Assassination Classroom in a high-fantasy, role-playing game setting. Authored by Kizuku Watanabe and illustrated by Jow, the series was serialized in Shueisha's Saikyo Jump beginning in 2015. It serves as a comedic companion piece to the original dark comedy, transposing the classroom dynamic into a world of magic, guilds, and demon kings.
The design of the series centers on parodying classic JRPG tropes, with the titular Korosensei appearing as the 'Demon King' who must be defeated by the students of Kunugigaoka. By retaining the core personalities of the main cast while stripping away the lethal tension of the original series, the creators aimed to provide a lighthearted outlet for fans. It was well-received by the existing fanbase as a playful subversion of the original series' established lore and character archetypes.
