Kuroi Kaze

Kuroi Kaze, or Black Wind, was created by the prolific mangaka Ishinomori Shotaro and originally serialized in the late 1960s. Emerging during a period of significant artistic experimentation in Japanese manga, this work departed from the more lighthearted themes often associated with the medium at the time, opting instead for a gritty, atmospheric narrative that explored darker psychological and social territories.

Ishinomori utilized his signature fluid, cinematic paneling to craft a story that balances historical nuance with suspense. The design of the work reflects the author's transition toward more mature, complex storytelling, which eventually paved the way for the darker tones found in his later influential works.
