Kurokami

Kurokami, published in Japan as Kurokami: The Animation and in Korea as Black God, originated from a collaborative project between South Korean writer Im Dal-Young and artist Park Sung-woo. The series began serialization in 2004 within the Japanese seinen magazine Young Gangan, representing a significant cross-cultural collaboration in the modern manga industry. The narrative explores a world where humans are linked to supernatural entities known as Mototsumitama, blending high-stakes action with complex metaphysical lore typical of the seinen demographic.

The character design and visual direction are largely attributed to Park Sung-woo, whose distinct style balances fluid combat sequences with intimate character moments. The series was designed to appeal to readers looking for a darker, supernatural thriller, and it eventually received a twenty-three episode anime adaptation by studio Sunrise in 2009.
