Where it came from
Lóng zú 2, part of the widely popular Dragon Raja series by Chinese author Jiang Nan, was written to expand upon the high-fantasy urban mythos established in the first volume. Published during a period when the genre was experiencing a massive surge in interest among young adult readers in China, the series explores the hidden history of dragon-human hybrids living within contemporary society. The narrative development of this volume continues to focus on the protagonist Lu Mingfei, delving deeper into his enrollment at the secret Kassel College and the burden of his ancient lineage.
The design and aesthetic of the Lóng zú series are deeply influenced by a fusion of Western fantasy tropes and contemporary East Asian light novel structures. Jiang Nan aimed to craft a sprawling, cinematic world that feels both grounded in real-world urban settings and elevated by mystical stakes. Upon its release, the series became a cultural phenomenon, frequently cited for its success in blending character-driven drama with elaborate world-building, cementing Jiang Nan's position as one of the most prominent figures in modern Chinese popular literature.
