-MAKEN X- ANoTHER

Maken X: Another is a spin-off manga based on the 1999 Dreamcast first-person action game Maken X, developed by Atlus. The series was published in the early 2000s to expand upon the game's unique premise, which centers on a sentient weapon capable of possessing its wielders. While the original game was noted for its unconventional gameplay and experimental aesthetic, the manga adaptation served to flesh out the lore and character dynamics of this obscure cyberpunk-influenced universe.

The manga is characterized by the distinct, gritty visual style of Q Hayashida, who later gained widespread acclaim for her work on Dorohedoro. Her art direction for this series leans into dark, kinetic compositions and eccentric character designs that distinguish it from standard tie-in media. It remains a notable early work in her career, capturing the raw, surreal atmosphere that would eventually define her signature style and earn her a dedicated following in the seinen manga genre.
