Where it came from
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 in Those Days serves as a documentary-style retrospective focused on the production and cultural impact of the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 television series. Published to provide fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the creative processes of director Seiji Mizushima and the Sunrise animation studio, the volume compiles interviews, design philosophies, and thematic analyses that defined the show's departure from the established Universal Century timeline.
The book explores the collaborative effort between the production staff and the conceptual direction often associated with the broader Gundam franchise's legacy, shaped by creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. It highlights the design choices behind the GN-Drive-powered mobile suits and the complex geopolitical narrative, reflecting on how the series sought to address contemporary global tensions through its futuristic lens. Upon its release, it was received as a definitive companion piece for followers of the series looking to understand the technical and narrative evolution of the Gundam brand during the late 2000s.
