Mobile Suit Gundam: The ORIGIN 10: Solomon

Mobile Suit Gundam: The ORIGIN is a reimagined retelling of the original 1979 anime series, written and illustrated by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who served as the original character designer for the 1979 show. Serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Gundam Ace magazine from 2001 to 2011, the project sought to provide a more nuanced, realistic, and detailed exploration of the Universal Century timeline, filling in character backstories and tightening the narrative pacing for a modern audience.

Volume 10, subtitled Solomon, focuses on the pivotal battle for the space fortress, showcasing Yasuhiko’s signature kinetic art style and deeply humanistic approach to war drama. As a central installment in the series, it reflects Yasuhiko's intention to return to the essence of the Gundam saga with refined mechanical designs and a focus on the psychological burden of its protagonists. The English translation, published by Vertical, was widely praised for preserving the artistic integrity and gravitas of Yasuhiko’s original vision.
