Where it came from
Movie Story Doraemon: Nobita and the Green Giant is a manga adaptation of the 2008 feature film of the same name, written and illustrated by Yasunori Okada. Following the established tradition of the Doraemon franchise, these 'Movie Story' volumes are released to coincide with the theatrical debuts of the films, offering a condensed, accessible print version of the cinematic narrative for younger audiences.
Yasunori Okada, a regular contributor to the Doraemon manga series, maintained the distinct visual language established by Fujiko F. Fujio while adapting the film's environmentalist themes. The story follows Nobita’s discovery of a sentient sapling he names Kibo, exploring the intricate relationship between humanity and nature. Upon its release, the volume was received as a standard but heartfelt addition to the extensive Doraemon literary collection, valued primarily for its role as a narrative companion to the animated production.
