Where it came from
Nagano Hymns is a collection of illustrations and creative works by the artist known as Save, originating from the underground independent publishing scene in Japan. It serves as a visual meditation on themes of isolation, urban decay, and atmospheric stillness, drawing heavily from the aesthetic sensibilities of Japanese minimalist design and contemporary digital surrealism.
The volume was curated to showcase Save’s progression in digital draftsmanship, specifically focusing on the intersection of architectural structure and human fragility. Upon its release, it gained a dedicated following within design circles for its evocative use of negative space and muted color palettes, establishing Save as a distinct voice in the medium of independent art books.
