Neon Genesis Evangelion - A lovey-dovey fanfic about Evangelion's Asuka and a slightly grown-up Shinji-kun (Doujinshi)

This work belongs to the expansive subculture of Neon Genesis Evangelion doujinshi, a tradition where independent creators produce derivative works based on Hideaki Anno's seminal anime series. Produced by the artist known as 774, or Nanashi, this volume reflects a specific subset of fan labor that emerged following the conclusion of the original series and the subsequent rebuild films, aiming to provide alternative character resolutions and romantic narratives that contrast with the show's famously melancholic tone.

The design and narrative focus on the dynamic between Asuka Langley Soryu and a matured Shinji Ikari represent a popular thematic trope within the fandom. Nanashi, known for a distinctively clean and emotive art style, utilizes this medium to explore domestic intimacy, a stylistic choice intended to subvert the psychological trauma present in the source material. Like many high-profile doujinshi in the early 2000s and 2010s, the work was distributed primarily at events like Comiket, serving as a piece of ephemeral print culture that documents the audience's deep investment in the emotional growth of the series' protagonists.
