Nouvelle revue théologique

The Nouvelle revue théologique, often abbreviated as NRT, is one of the oldest theological journals in the world, tracing its origins back to 1869. It was established in Tournai, Belgium, as a scholarly initiative to engage with contemporary philosophical and religious challenges from a Roman Catholic perspective. Throughout its long history, the publication has been managed by the Society of Jesus, serving as a pillar for academic discourse in dogmatic, moral, and historical theology.

The design and editorial direction of the journal have historically emphasized rigorous intellectual depth, catering primarily to clergy, academics, and students of theology. Over the decades, it has evolved to incorporate a broader range of ecumenical and interdisciplinary perspectives. It is widely respected in academic circles for its role in maintaining a long-standing dialogue between traditional Catholic doctrine and the shifting intellectual landscape of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
