Ocherk oistorii obrazovannosti i literatury tatar (do revoliutsii 1917g.). ...

This volume, authored by Dzhamaletdin Validov and published in Moscow in 1923, serves as a pioneering academic survey of Tatar literacy and intellectual life prior to the 1917 revolution. Validov wrote the text during a period of significant transition for Soviet national identity, aiming to document the historical trajectory of Tatar cultural development, scholarly traditions, and the evolution of their literary language before the restructuring of the Soviet educational system.

The book is regarded by scholars as a foundational bibliographic and historical resource, reflecting the author’s intent to preserve the nuance of Tatar educational history within the new ideological framework of the early Soviet era. It was produced in the context of the 'korenizatsiya' policy, which encouraged the study and promotion of non-Russian minority cultures, and it remains a frequently cited reference for historians tracking the evolution of the Volga Tatar intelligentsia.
