Where it came from
The Old Era Dragon Tamer series, produced by Skytree Comic Studio, emerged during a period of rising interest in fantasy-themed graphic storytelling within the Chinese independent comic market. It was developed to capitalize on the growing demand for world-building that blended traditional folklore elements with modern shonen-style narrative tropes, specifically focusing on the intimate bond between human protagonists and dragon creatures.
The design philosophy of the series relied heavily on a distinct aesthetic that prioritized dynamic line work and high-contrast character illustrations. While the studio was not widely known outside of regional publishing circles, the work received moderate acclaim for its effort to modernize classic mythical motifs. It stands as a representative example of early 21st-century studio-led comic production, capturing a moment when collective creative groups were actively experimenting with established genre archetypes.
