The original One Punch-Man webcomic was launched in 2009 by the anonymous author known as ONE, who hosted the series on his personal website. Created as a creative exercise in subverting the traditional shonen action tropes, the series features Saitama, a protagonist whose overwhelming strength renders him perpetually bored. Its crude, minimalist art style initially drew little attention, but the series gained significant momentum due to its sharp humor and inventive pacing, eventually leading to a professional manga adaptation illustrated by Yusuke Murata.

Following the explosion in popularity of the franchise, a dedicated global community emerged to refine the original webcomic's presentation. Fans began producing unofficial, colored versions of the monochromatic panels, applying digital coloring techniques to highlight the kinetic energy of ONE's action sequences. These fan-colored projects emerged as a grassroots movement, intended to bridge the aesthetic gap between the simplistic original webcomic and the high-production values seen in the professional manga and anime adaptations.
