Peter and the Secret of Rundoon

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, published in 2007, serves as the final installment in the Peter and the Starcatchers series, a reimagining of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan mythos. Co-authored by humorist Dave Barry and suspense novelist Ridley Pearson, the series was conceived as a prequel to explain the origins of Neverland, Captain Hook, and the iconic characters of the classic tale. The narrative blends high-seas adventure with fantasy elements, specifically the mysterious substance known as starstuff, which grants magical properties and eternal youth.

The book's cover art and interior illustrations were created by Greg Call, whose detailed pen-and-ink style helps anchor the series' whimsical yet dangerous atmosphere. Upon its release, the novel was generally well-received by young adult readers and critics for successfully concluding the complex plot arcs established in the preceding books, particularly the evolving rivalry between Peter and Lord Ombra. The series has remained a fixture in middle-grade literature for its ability to balance lighthearted humor with a more grounded, perilous take on familiar childhood folklore.
